Tim is the new Baz

It’s finally happened, after 23 consecutive handicaps, Baz did not attend in August 2017.  This means the baton for current consecutive attendances passes to Tim Manners, who has not missed an event since September 2016.

21 people took the start line, including first timers, Graham Cole, Jon Butts, Kieran Ross and Vicki Clarke.  Conditions were pretty favourable, especially with a  tailwind down Redbridge Lane propelling Peter, Rachael, Dean, and James Clarke to new PB’s. James becoming the third person ever to go sub 20:00 on the handicap course. A sub 20 requires an average pace of 5:33 per mile (3:27 per KM)!  Peter was the first finisher and beat his PB by the most, knocking 4 minutes and 8 seconds off his time from last month.  Sadly, in the first finisher prediction he was backed by no-one.  Kieran and Rachael were the second and third finishers.

You also might be interested to know that the average time was 27:12 (YTD average – 28:16).  When I have more time I will calculate the average across all years.

Thanks must be recorded for Rob and James Blyth, who started, timed and photographed us all.  Rob was saving his legs for a 5k race that evening, where he stopped the clock at 16:50 (3:22 per KM!).

Sorry about the layout of the pics – I can’t get them to rotate properly …
