On the last Sunday of a long January, the sun was shining over Romsey ready for the 5 mile race around Broadlands. The route around the private estate took us on 3 laps with a bit of a dog leg which provided an excellent opportunity to cheer on fellow runners as we passed each other. With a relatively flat course, the opportunity for some speedy times was high.
Some familiar faces out running were; Matt P, Luc, Naomi, Neil W, Egbe, Peter B, Teena, Tony M, Julia P (and hubby), Viv, Den, Kieran, Jo, Sean and Mark S (and Mrs S). Julia, Jo and Sean have alluded the official OS photographers; Karen and Tim M – but have managed to find action and post-race photos of most!
Teena, Egbe, Neil and Naomi were also counting this towards their efforts for R.E.D January and with lots of support out on the course from Karen, son Stanley, Tim M and daughter Eliana, plus Kieran’s wife Lisa and sister Naomi, plus Sue W we were all cheered over the line to screams and cheers, before collapsing into a heap of bananas and Haribo.
As in standard OS Runner tradition, food was on our mind, so a wander into Romsey to find a lovely cafe called Asante who probably wondered what was going on as their peaceful Sunday morning was quashed with sweaty runners who virtually ate them out of cake. All round a great morning.
For those stats fans out there – times and what not below.
