OS Runners London Marathon Place Allocation Criteria

One of the benefits of being an EA Affiliated Club is that we receive club places for the London Marathon, based on the number of first claim EA athletes we have.

For the 2019 event we expect to receive 1 place and the Committee have reviewed and updated the criteria used to allocate the place in 2018, taking into account the nature of the club and also what other local clubs do.  These are as follows;

If you have a good for age time https://www.virginmoneylondonmarathon.com/en-gb/how-to-enter/good-age-entry/ or are eligible for a Championship place https://www.virginmoneylondonmarathon.com/en-gb/how-to-enter/championship-entry/ then we expect you to apply for entry using this and you will not be eligible for the club place (unless your GFA application is unsuccessful due to the time cut off’s being lowered).

If you benefitted from the club place in the preceding year (i.e. 2018 for the 2019 race) you will not be eligible to enter any draw.

We will be conducting a draw in mid to late October, with a weighting criteria, with each criteria you meet entitling you to one place in the ballot.

1 – You must be a 1st claim EA affiliated member of OS Runners who has joined or renewed your EA membership through OS Runners by the 30th June 2018.  This is mandatory regardless of meeting other criteria.

2 – You have a general ballot rejection magazine/e-mail from the 2019 race.  The general ballot  opens on 30 April and closes on 4 May.

3 – You have attended 10 Mixed Ability, FUNdamentals, 30 minute challenges or Handicap sessions between 1 April and 30 September 2018 (including as a leader/timer etc).

4 – You have not run the London Marathon before.

5 – You have not benefitted from OSR EA awarded club places in the past.

Closer to the draw date we will send out an e-mail to establish how many people would like to be in the draw and which criteria they meet.

The date of the 2019 event is Sunday 28th April.
