This Sunday finally saw the highly anticipated Eastleigh 10k. This race was rearranged from the spring because of the snowy conditions, but as everyone woke up on Sunday morning to drizzle and grey clouds it didn’t really seem like the summer.
Wasing Park 9/10th June 2018
The first of this year’s 24 hr endurance races that people from OS Runners entered has been completed.
Two teams, OS Hares and OS Tortoises ran the 8km/5mile loop as many times as they could in the 24hr period from 12 noon on the Saturday to 12 noon on the Sunday.
Thunder Run – well nearly!
For the past three year’s members of Ordnance Survey running club have entered a 24-hour relay race at Catton Park in the Midlands. The concept is basically, how many 10k laps can you manage starting at 12.00 mid-day Saturday and finishing 24 hours later. There are different categories including solo, pairs and teams of 3-5 and 6-8 going up and down dale, through woods all on grass or earth tracks.
Over the 9th/10th June a group of 13 (11 runners and 2 drivers) travelled to Twickenham in London and proceeded to run in relay all the way to Sofia Gardens in Cardiff. All this with the aim of completing the 160 mile challenge in under 24 hrs.
After 3 team stages and 24 individual stages the team finished in a time of 22:59:58 and a position of 9th /42. A great team effort and a fantastic result.
This years OS Runners Club Championships were held on 6th May at various parkruns; Southampton, Bournemouth, Eastleigh, Finsbury, Basingstoke, Cranleigh, Winchester, Poole, Southwark, Moors Valley, Leicester Victoria, Gloucester North, Killerton and as far away as parkrun de Fontainebleau in France!
