Another month gone by means another handicap in the bag for all those that ran this month.
With the third time running the new handicap route, we are well into a new season. More runners are trying the new route, more PBs are being set as well as more course records. Weather, whilst absolutely freezing first thing in the morning, is a perfectly comfortable 15 degrees around lunch time.
This month we had 20 participants and the average time was a commendable 23:41. 8 personal bests were set, and a new course records was set for the girls, again by Karen Connell with an incredible 21:16!! Paul Ashley also set out to beat Jon Sharkey’s course record of 16:55, but unfortunately missed out by 24 seconds. Nonetheless, it was a personal best for him as well! Who is going to try and smash it next month?
August marked the second month that OS Runners ran the new 5km handicap run. Without Shaun’s chalk marks to guide the way and many still getting used to the route, minds were tested as well as legs. That said temperatures had dropped by some 11′ since last month, which I believe bode well for everyone and we had a whooping 11 PBs!
28 June 2018 – Runners of the June Handicap accidentally colour coding in blue?
The June handicap took place on the second hottest day of 2018 so far…Temperatures soared to a high of 27°C, and I personally managed to get a sunburn in the 45 minutes I spent outside timing all the brave runners, oops.
For all those who have missed my facebook post…
We may just have entered the summer season, but let’s be real. We live in the U.K., which means we really don’t have a summer season. So equip yourself with one of our new hoodies to keep you warm whilst standing around at all of the upcoming relays! All logos neatly embroidered, so you can accidentally tumble dry them without the fear of losing the logo entirely (or at all) ;).
