Tell us a bit about your running history
Crikey that’s going back! Probably started when I was a toddler, chasing our dog around the garden, or it might have been the other way around! The only running I did at junior school was in the football team, apart from the sports day. Same at grammar school, although I was also introduced to the joys of cross county running, across muddy fields in plimsolls (trainers hadn’t been invented then and if they had they’d not reached County Durham!). I suppose running became more a way of life rather than a sport when I joined the Army. Although they spoilt it by making us run in ill-fitting boots, carrying weapons and heavy rucksacks in all sorts of weather, all times of day. I was successful in the regimental athletics team as a middle distance runner.
On Wednesday 15 June, OS Runners took part in the annual Mile of Miles Relay at the Sports Centre running track. This was the second time that we took part in the event and this year we were able to enter 2 teams.
The event is always a fun and enjoyable evening and its great that all abilities and ages take part. We had 3 new faces taking part for OS Runners for the first time – Shaun Brown, Kat Earls and Sam Carter.
28th May 2016 saw the 3rd Anniversary for Brockenhurst parkrun where our very own Ian Smith topped the Annual Points Award.
