Handicap results and report May 2016

Well done to everyone who ran the May handicap.  We had a total of 19 runners out, which is our joint best this year and hasn’t been beaten since the Horton Handicap in March 2015.

On a somewhat hot day, 7 runners recorded new personal bests, high 5’s to Rachael, Drew, Rick, Owain, Simon, Ben and Ian R.  It was also good to welcome first timer Julie Lloyd to the handicap who guided round by Tara.

Other notably attendees, Jules completing her 10th and Naomi and Ian S both completing their 20th (timing counts as attendance).

Results In WAVA terms, Diane and Mark S are the King and Queen for the month.  WAVA is a calculation which expresses your time as a percentage of the calculated World Record for someone of your age and gender over this distance – hence the closer to 100% the better.  Only those who have provided their Date of Birth  receive a WAVA grade.  If you would like one next month just e-mail Matt P with your DoB.

Baz retains the lead in current consecutive attendances record and has now competed in the last 9 events.  His enthusiasm for this competition suggests he isn’t planning on missing an event anytime soon, but he does then Mark Aston is currently in second place, having participated in every event in 2016.

Thank you to Naomi and Dave for timing and photographing.  Naomi did such a great job on the timing that Dave was able to take a huge number of photo’s, which I have included below (click on the image for high res version).

Almost 2 feet off the ground for James

Rachael would probably find running easier if she opened her eyes!

Simon powering for the line

A 3 way sprint here, Eddie, Rick and Ian

Ian smashing out a new PB

This doesn’t really do justice to the full on sprint that Mark and Mark were having when they passed me going down Redbridge Lane – both absolutely full blooded, but in the end youth won the day.

Another sprint finish win for youth (well middle age)

Winner of the best facial expression competition, Jules B-R

Tara did a cracking job taking Julie round the course on her first run
